Interior Design Sales Manager

Summary: Interior Design Sales Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing all aspects of vendor relations, design team support, training, sales development, and marketing for the Kitchen, Bath and Flooring department. This role ensures consistent execution, high performance, and a cohesive team culture across all kitchen, bath and flooring functions, while serving as the primary point of contact for designers and facilitating communication between departments and senior leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Vendor Management & Development

  • Oversee all vendor relationships, ensuring accountability and optimal performance.
  • Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, discounts, and special offerings.
  • Evaluate, add, and communicate with new vendors, providing necessary training and follow-up.
  • Ensure vendor performance aligns with company standards and expectations.
  • Manage the Category Review Process (CRP) to ensure product offerings remain competitive and relevant.

Team Leadership & Support

  • Act as the central point of contact for Kitchen and Bath designers for day-to-day needs, decision-making, and escalated issues.
  • Support designers when local managers lack the technical knowledge or context to guide effectively.
  • Facilitate timely decisions to avoid delays that typically require senior management intervention.

Training & Development

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive onboarding and training program for new sales personnel.
  • Coordinate vendor-led training sessions and technical skill development (e.g., 20/20 design software).
  • Provide ongoing design and industry-related education, including interior design, best practices and trends.

Operational Management

  • Standardize processes, formats, and performance expectations across the K&B team.
  • Promote consistency and accountability in design, customer service, and internal communications.
  • Manage planning and execution of the annual Sales Conference for the K&B division.

Sales & Marketing

  • Coach and mentor team members to improve sales performance and customer engagement.
  • Drive strategies for new customer acquisition and lead presentation standards.
  • Collaborate with the Outside Sales (OS) team to support joint sales development efforts.
  • Elevate brand awareness through showroom design, product mix enhancements, and targeted marketing initiatives.
  • Identify and develop new market opportunities, coordinating product selection and presentation.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Store Managers and Kitchen and Bath Sales personnel will have indirect reporting relationship to this role. Overseeing sales operations within a designated region, leading and supporting the kitchen & bath team, and ensuring that sales targets and objectives are met.

  • Proven experience in Kitchen, Bath and Flooring sales, design, or management.
  • Strong vendor negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a multi-location or cross-functional environment.
  • Proficient in design software (e.g., 20/20) and knowledgeable in industry trends.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Background in training, coaching, and team development strongly preferred.
