ABOUT THE ROLE

Studio Vargas is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Design Assistant to support high-end residential renovations and new builds.

This is a drawing-heavy, execution-focused role. You’ll translate design intent into clear, accurate drawings and support projects from early layout through construction and installation.

AutoCAD and SketchUp are used daily and are non-negotiable.

You’ll work closely with the principal designer and be involved throughout the full design process. For the right person, this role can grow in responsibility and leadership over time.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Draft floor plans, elevations, sections, and details in AutoCAD
• Build and maintain SketchUp models
• Update drawings from redlines, site conditions, and revisions
• Prepare spec books, spec books, presentation decks, finish schedules, and other documentation
• Organize and manage project files, drawings, schedules, and receipts
• Assist with sourcing and vendor coordination
• Attend select site visits, installs, and measurements
• Coordinate install days and deliveries
• Track orders, deliveries, and communication with vendors and contractors
• Administrative taks

(Responsibilities will evolve as systems and projects develop.)

REQUIRED

• 1+ years in interior design, architecture, or related field
• Strong AutoCAD + SketchUp proficiency (required)
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Comfortable receiving feedback and revising work
• Organized, reliable, and communicative
• Laptop capable of running design software
• Reliable transportation for local site visits

Preferred (not required):

• Interior Design or Architecture degree
• Residential construction documentation experience
• Familiarity with Canva, Google Workspace, or PM tools

We manage 40–50 high-end projects per year with a small, thoughtful team and value clear communication, strong systems, and respectful collaboration.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
