INTERIOR DESIGNER

Spectrum Interior Design is seeking a polished, experienced and collaborative Interior Designer to join our exceptional in-office team in Mountain View, CA.

This opportunity is ideal for a design professional with a minimum of 5 years of high-end residential design experience, who thrives in a team-driven environment and is motivated to join a premier design firm known for its exacting standards, refined aesthetic, and world-class clientele.

Our ideal candidate combines creativity with technical expertise, bringing mastery of AutoCAD, construction detailing, and project documentation, as well as a keen understanding of the financial impact of design selections. This role calls for a designer who is equally passionate about collaboration and execution, someone who ensures projects run smoothly, accurately, and profitably while delivering a seamless client experience. You will be contributing to a diverse range of luxury residential projects and supporting our in-house product line.

Key Responsibilities

DESIGN LEADERSHIP & PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

  • Collaborate with the Creative Director to translate design concepts into detailed, executable plans.
  • Produce drawings, elevations, and construction details in AutoCAD with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support construction planning and distribution coordination.
  • Prepare and develop design presentations and materials that clearly communicate ideas to clients and project partners.
  • Develop and manage FF&E sourcing, selections, material schedules and specifications with consideration for aesthetics, durability, and budget, including seasonal and private label procurement.
  • Review drawings, schedules, and specifications to ensure design integrity and alignment with project goals.
  • Lead client meeting preparations and post meeting documentation ensuring team and client clarity.

PROJECT COORDINATION & EXECUTION

  • Collaborate on project documentation, track timelines, and budgets to ensure deadlines and financial goals are met.
  • Anticipate project needs, identify potential challenges, and propose proactive solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, consultants, and vendors to coordinate construction, procurement and installation details.
  • Maintain accountability for accuracy in drawings, specifications, and procurement processes.

PROCUREMENT & FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT

  • Manage vendor relationships and requests for quotes, samples, finishes, and lead times.
  • Prepare detailed order documentation, including COM forms, budgets, and approvals.
  • Monitor procurement schedules and ensure all orders align with project financial goals.
  • Partner with accounting and procurement team to track budgets, profitability, and cost efficiency.
  • Documentation maintenance of Item Specification in appropriate digital, physical and software files.

INSTALLATION SUPPORT

  • Lead preparation for installations, including schedules, tool kits, and logistics.
  • Support on-site installation, ensuring design intent is carried through to execution.
  • Participate in styling, accessorizing, and final project presentation.
  • Document post-installation processes and maintain project archives.
  • Support seasonal installations from preparations through post-installation and removal.

STUDIO & TEAM COLLABORATION

  • Contribute to maintaining an organized design library, materials resources, and studio operations.
  • Collaborate with team members across all levels, ensuring open communication and alignment.
  • Support the studio culture by modeling professionalism, accountability, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff where appropriate.

MARKETING, BRAND, & REPRESENTATION

  • Support photoshoots, staging, and product styling to highlight completed projects.
  • Assist with maintaining brand consistency across presentations, proposals, and marketing collateral.
  • Represent the studio with polish and professionalism in all client and vendor interactions.

Note : Additional responsibilities and special projects may be assigned to support the evolving needs of the firm.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Interior Design Degree or Certification
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in high-end residential interior design
  • Mastery of AutoCAD, strong proficiency in Powerpoint and Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with Studio Designer is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work with discretion, urgency, and meticulous attention to detail
  • Solid understanding of construction detailing and ability to collaborate effectively with contractors and consultants
  • Knowledge of financial implications of design selections and experience supporting budgets and profitability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills that reflect clarity, professionalism, and polish
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to support a team and anticipate needs
  • A vehicle, valid driver’s license and proof of current insurance as position calls for travel for off-site assignments

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES

  • Interest or prior experience in procurement or design purchasing
  • Aesthetic sensibility and understanding of luxury materials, furnishings, and finishes

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
