Interior Designer

Laken Design is seeking a dynamic interior designer to join their growing residential design firm. This designer will work closely with the principal interior designers to support and complete various aspects of the firm’s residential design process.

The Position

  • Work closely with the principal designers through all project phases including architectural review, conceptual design, detailed design, procurement and installation
  • Attend site visits to accurately measure and notate site dimensions and collect photos
  • Create floor plans, furniture layouts, cabinetry drawings, and elevations using CAD software, and thoroughly review drawings and specs upon completion
  • Develop design concepts, space plans and material palettes that align with the firm's aesthetic and client vision
  • Source furniture, lighting, and finish materials; create and present inspiration boards, design boards, FF&A, and material schedules
  • Attend client and project meetings, take detailed notes, track project progress, and complete all project related tasks
  • Conduct site visits and assist with styling and final project installs
  • Help coordinate the team to successfully execute the design and complete the project in a timely manner
  • Manage communication with clients, vendors, and contractors
  • Run project related errands including but not limited to collecting samples and project sourcing
  • Independently oversee small scale projects

Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from an accredited school with 2+ years experience in residential interior design
  • Proficient in programs including Mac OS, Google Suites, Adobe Creative Suites, and AutoCAD; 3D Rendering Software such as 20/20 and Revit is a plus
  • Knowledge of design requirements, construction methods, construction documents and materials used in high end residential design
  • Strong design sensibility with an understanding of scale, proportion, and elevated materials and product
  • Proactively bring forward innovative ideas and product that will enhance the design experience
  • Has a refined eye for design with ability to create work that reflects the Laken aesthetic
  • Highly professional, organized, with extreme attention to detail and strong writing skills
  • Ability to take the initiative and work well under pressure while juggling and prioritizing multiple projects, often against tight deadlines
  • Takes on a deep sense of partnership and ownership of projects with principal designers
  • Advanced customer service skills, able to thoughtfully communicate with the team, clients, contractors, and vendors to progress project and resolve issues
  • Ability to find thoughtful solutions to design and project challenges
  • A team player with a positive, open minded, and adaptive attitude
  • Ability to help haul heavy samples, decor and small furniture items during presentations and installations
  • Must reside in Pittsburgh area

Hours & Compensation based on experience

Full-Time position

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
