Interior Designer – Job Profile

Position Summary
The Interior Designer is responsible for guiding clients through the design, selection, and execution of natural stone surfaces and custom cabinetry. This role bridges client vision, design functionality, and fabrication feasibility, ensuring that all projects are both aesthetically compelling and technically sound for production and installation.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Consultation & Design Development
- Meet with residential and commercial clients to understand project scope, style preferences, and budget
- Provide expert guidance on:
- Marble, granite, quartz, and specialty stone selections
- Cabinetry styles, finishes, and layouts
- Color coordination and material combinations
- Develop preliminary design concepts, mood boards, and layouts
- Manage showroom appointments and walk-ins professionally
Material Selection & Specification
- Assist clients in selecting slabs (including reviewing movement, veining, and bookmatching)
- Coordinate slab reservations and approvals with suppliers
- Ensure proper material quantities, waste factors, and fabrication feasibility
- Prepare detailed specifications for:
- Countertops
- Backsplashes
- Vanity tops
- Custom cabinetry systems
Drawings & Documentation
- Create or review:
- Shop drawings
- Cabinet layouts
- Countertop templates and edge details
- Ensure designs align with fabrication capabilities and field conditions
- Coordinate revisions based on measurements and client approvals
Project Coordination
- Work closely with:
- Project Managers
- Fabrication team
- Installers
- Vendors/suppliers
- Track project timelines from selection through installation
- Communicate updates to clients and internal teams
Sales Support & Revenue Contribution
- Support sales team in closing projects by providing design expertise
- Upsell additional materials and finishes where appropriate
- Assist with preparing estimates and proposals when needed
- Maintain strong relationships with builders, contractors, and repeat clients
Quality Control & Customer Experience
- Ensure final selections match client expectations and approved samples
- Assist in resolving design-related issues pre- and post-installation
- Maintain high level of customer satisfaction and repeat business
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Degree in Interior Design or related field preferred
- 2–5+ years experience in:
- Kitchen & bath design
- Stone fabrication environment (highly preferred)
- Cabinetry design or millwork
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD / 2020 Design / SketchUp (preferred)
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Strong understanding of:
- Natural stone materials (marble, quartzite, granite, quartz)
- Cabinet construction and layouts
- Field measurements and fabrication tolerances
