Position Summary
The Interior Designer III is responsible for both independently executing and guiding others on design and documentation tasks across all project phases. The position acts as a specialist in the application of advanced theories, concepts, and principles for an assigned area of work. The position is responsible for using practiced knowledge to develop, document and/or deliver key presentations and components of projects.
The Interior Designer III is able to act independently and decisively from a sound background in interior design principles and understanding of the constructability of design. The position demonstrates flexibility, creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving for client needs and interior design issues. The position requires advanced technical skills, excellent listening and communication skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure and be a reassuring influence on team members.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Creates and participates in client facing presentations.
- Provides timely and effective coordination in the delivery of designs, plans and specifications to ensure project goals and objectives have been satisfied.
- Develops interior design concepts primarily for small/medium sized projects.
- Incorporates other disciplines e.g. MEP, construction methods, budget, etc. in the design process.
- Evaluates and selects materials; consults with the manufacturer’s representative.
- Leads the coordination of FF&E selection and specification.
- Provides design and technical detailing guidance to other staff members.
- Leads construction administration activities.
- Assists the Project Manager in the development of project schedules and work plans.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports the work of project leadership, as needed/assigned.
- Serves as a mentor.
- Seeks out mentorship and continuing education opportunities for the development of skills and career.
- Pursues education/training/experience in performance, project, and client management.
- Contributes to business development efforts.
- Develops and fosters relationships in broader design community.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides performance feedback to team members and to their performance managers.
Required Education, Experience, and Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design from a CIDA accredited program or a B.Arch
- Five (5) years of experience as an interior designer/architect in a client services firm
- Professional design portfolio
- Actively pursuing NCIDQ certification or architecture license
- Sustainable Building Materials certified
- LEED GA
Preferred Education, Experience, and Credentials
- Master’s degree in interior design from a CIDA accredited program or a M.Arch
- NCIDQ certified or Registered Architect
- WELL certified

- Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign
- Revit
- Sketchup
- AutoCAD

- Designer Pages for furniture specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage digital files in adherence with office standards.
- Ability to perform work using a Windows operating system.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- Ability to evaluate and recommend new tools appropriate to the project.
- Proficiency with Deltek Vantagepoint.
Working Conditions, Physical Activities and Demands
- Office environment, no adverse environmental conditions expected on a usual basis.
- Occasionally visiting construction sites with exposure to outdoor elements, variable temperatures, hazards, and noise.
- Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Constantly assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
- Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods.
- Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
Compensation
- Range: $80,000 – $130,000 annually, depending on skills and experience.
