Interior Designer - Mid Level

Join our design studio as a Mid-Level Interior Designer, where your creativity and technical expertise will transform spaces into inspiring environments. In this role, you will work directly the the principal and collaborate with clients, project managers, and contractors to develop innovative design solutions that blend aesthetics with functionality. Your passion for interior design, combined with your technical skills, will drive projects from concept through execution, ensuring each space reflects the client’s vision while adhering to budget and schedule parameters.

<Location and Hours>

This is a hybrid remote position. Applicants must be based in or shortly moving to the Bay Area. Some regular digital meetings must be attended at the same time, but hours are generally flexible and can be altered to fit applicants life and schedule. Applicant will be required to attend site visits in and around the Bay Area and must have their own form of transportation. Site visits may be set around applicant's schedule, but some flexibility may be required.

<Responsibilities>

  • Develop comprehensive interior design concepts using software such as SketchUp, AutoCAD, InDesign, and Photoshop to visualize ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Prepare detailed drafting and construction documents, including plans, elevations, sections, and specifications utilizing AutoCAD and Programa.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and budgets; translate these insights into compelling design solutions.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors during construction projects to ensure designs are executed accurately within scope.
  • Attend regular site visits for projects under construction in the Bay Area, review progress and discuss with design team any issues or changes necessary.
  • Select appropriate materials, finishes, lighting fixtures, and color schemes based on project requirements and Laurel Design Collective aesthetic.
  • Create compelling presentations using Adobe Creative Suite to communicate design concepts confidently while utilizing a clear studio template and guidelines
  • Select FF&E and perform pre-procurement tasks

<Experience>

  • Proven experience as an interior designer or in a similar role with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse projects including renovation and remodeling.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and the Adobe Creative Suite is essential. Revit, Bluebeam, Programa, Sketch Up a bonus.
  • Solid understanding of drafting standards, construction documentation, contract review processes, and project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, budgeting practices, and contract negotiations related to interior projects.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively present ideas and coordinate with clients, vendors, contractors, and team members. This role offers an energetic environment where your innovative ideas will shape inspiring spaces while advancing your professional growth in interior design!
