Interior Designer & Preconstruction Coordinator

Interior Designer & Proconstruction Coordinator

Connor Design-Build

Are you an interior designer who believes exceptional spaces are never accidental?

Do you crave thoughtful design, elevated materials, and true craftsmanship over cookie-cutter production work? Are you energized by collaborating closely with clients and skilled trades to bring distinctive, highly personalized spaces to life?

Connor Design-Build is seeking a Harrisburg-based Interior Designer & Preconstruction Coordinator to join our boutique, design-driven team.

Who We Are

Connor Design-Build is a full-service boutique residential and light commercial design-build firm specializing in high-quality remodels, additions, kitchens, baths, interior renovations, and custom projects. We are deeply committed to craftsmanship, intelligent detailing, and timeless design. Our sister company, Studio 4 Showroom complements our construction services by offering curated, fine building materials and finishes through a retail installation and trade sales model. Our showroom features premium windows, doors, flooring, cabinetry, surfaces, hardware, wall coverings, and more — carefully selected to support elevated design.

We are not a high-volume production firm. We are a small, entrepreneurial team that values collaboration, creative problem-solving, and continual improvement. Every project is different. Every detail matters.

The Opportunity

This is a unique, integrated role that blends architectural interior design, client consultation, preconstruction coordination, and sales.

You will play a visible, hands-on role in shaping projects from initial client consultation through design development, documentation, material selection, coordination, and completion. You will work directly with clients, leadership, trades, and vendor partners — contributing meaningfully to both the creative and operational success of each project.

Official employment and primary responsibilities will be through Connor Design-Build, LLC.

Key Responsibilities

Architectural Interior Design & Client Consultation (60%)

  • Lead initial and ongoing client consultations (in-showroom and some in-home)
  • Educate clients on materials, products, and design approaches
  • Develop project scope, specifications, and detailed quotes (using assistive software)
  • Produce construction drawings and renderings (Chief Architect and/or AutoCAD/Revit)
  • Participate in collaborative team design sessions
  • Guide materials and finish selections with a consultative, comparison-based approach
  • Prepare and present design concepts, scope of work, and contracts
  • Support showroom merchandising and display updates

Preconstruction Coordination (30%)

  • Serve as a key communication liaison for active projects
  • Coordinate trades, schedules, and vendor quotes with project manager
  • Manage material selections, ordering, and tracking
  • Develop comprehensive on-site project binders for field teams
  • Collaborate closely with the production team throughout execution

Business Development & Growth Support (10%)

  • Contribute to marketing initiatives (social, digital, traditional, events)
  • Support retail and trade business development efforts
  • Maintain client and prospect information within CRM systems
  • Represent the company at select events and trade opportunities (as needed)

Who Thrives Here

Our ideal candidate is:

  • A critical thinker and natural problem-solver
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Passionate about fine materials and best building practices
  • Confident managing multiple project phases simultaneously
  • Comfortable working independently within a small, collaborative team
  • Motivated by continued education and professional growth

  • 40 hours per week (mutually agreed schedule within these hours)
  • Occasional early morning or late afternoon “shoulder” appointments for client accommodation
  • Occasional pre-scheduled evening or weekend events and trade shows

We value work-life balance and proactively plan schedules to avoid excessive after-hours demands.
