Intermediate Interior Designer
Manes Architecture + Interiors is seeking an Intermediate Interior Designer to join our growing Brooklyn-based studio. This is an opportunity to work directly with the principals on high-end residential projects throughout New York City and beyond, with exposure to all aspects of the design process, from concept development and client presentations to procurement, project management, and construction administration.
We are a boutique architecture and interiors practice focused on creating thoughtful, highly customized spaces with an emphasis on natural materials, craftsmanship, and timeless design. In addition to our design practice, we recently launched Manes Studio, a showroom and retail concept featuring custom furnishings, artisan-made objects, and a curated collection of home goods.
This role is ideal for a designer who enjoys both creative and technical work and is looking to take on increasing responsibility within a collaborative studio environment. We are looking for someone who is self-reliant, resourceful, highly organized, and capable of taking ownership of their work. The ideal candidate is eager to grow into greater project leadership responsibilities over time.
Responsibilities
- Assist with project design and development from concept through construction.
- Create client presentations, mood boards, finish palettes, and design documentation.
- Source furniture, lighting, plumbing fixtures, fabrics, materials, and finishes.
- Develop and maintain FF&E schedules, finish schedules, and specifications.
- Produce and coordinate AutoCAD drawing sets through all phases of design.
- Manage procurement activities, including vendor coordination, purchase orders, pricing requests, and order tracking.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, and vendors.
- Participate in project management, consultant coordination, and construction administration.
- Attend and document client meetings, site visits, showroom appointments, and construction meetings.
- Assist in maintaining project schedules, budgets, and procurement tracking.
- Support showroom operations, merchandising, and product sourcing as needed.
Qualifications
- Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture.
- 5+ years of professional interior design experience preferred, including experience on high-end residential projects.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and Canva.
- Strong design sensibility and understanding of materials, furnishings, finishes, and custom detailing.
- Experience creating client presentations and design packages.
- Experience sourcing furniture, lighting, textiles, plumbing fixtures, and finish materials.
- Procurement experience, including vendor coordination, purchase orders, order tracking, and specification management.
- Working knowledge of construction documentation, detailing, project management, and construction administration.
- Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors, fabricators, and vendors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with limited oversight.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable taking ownership of project tasks and seeing them through to completion.
- Experience leading portions of a project independently is preferred.
- Experience working in a showroom, furniture studio, gallery, or luxury retail environment is a plus.
- Studio Designer experience is a plus.
- Experience with SketchUp, InDesign, rendering software, or AI visualization tools is a plus.
Compensation
- Salary: $75,000, commensurate with experience.
