Intermodal Transportation Planner

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Intermodal Planner is responsible for executing the drayage while maximizing efficiency & profitability for the company, while taking into account the customer's expectations. This role will also be responsible for maintaining and reporting KPI’s related to efficiencies and profitability. This position has a start time of 0600 AM - 3:00 PM or 0900AM - 6:00PM.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Responsible for optimizing all pickups and deliveries to exceed customer service expectations and maximize dray savings
• Drive network equipment balances and efficiencies through proper routing and equipment selections
• Drive proactive load planning and optimization reducing same day load recovery
• Utilize reporting dashboards to identify trends and develop strategies to improve performance
• Utilize critical thinking and problem resolution to provide innovative solutions for repetitive service challenges
• Identify opportunities to improve carrier utilization through daily tactical appointment adjustments
• Work closely with the CSR’s to identify innovative operational solutions for our customers
• Duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or changed from time to time

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Bachelor’s degree perferred
• Two or more years of operations experience in the intermodal planning segment, is required
• Must have excellent communications skills - interpersonal, verbal, written, and be able to interact well with others in a team environment as well as with our customers and vendors
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products including advanced Excel skills
• Organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to establish and prioritize workload in order to meet team and company goals using good business judgment
• Must be able to lead and manage competing priorities by multi-tasking and meeting all deadlines and flexibility with continually changing priorities while providing high quality customer service
• Ability to manage multiple priorities as well as flexibility to adapt to change with new systems and methods while working in a team environment
