Intern - Administrative Services

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Town of Truckee is looking for a temporary summer intern in Administration and Accounting and Human Resources who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and learn how local government really works. This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience while helping support the systems that keep our community running smoothly.

In this role, you’ll assist with a variety of tasks including research, data entry, filing, coordination, and managing both paper and digital workflows. You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at how government finance and human resources administration directly impact everyday services - from roads to police - and help ensure public resources are used responsibly.

We’re looking for someone comfortable with Microsoft Word and Excel (Google Docs/Sheets works too). Accounting coursework is a plus. If time allows, you may also get to explore more involved projects in finance, human resources, and/or IT - making this a well-rounded intro to public sector work.

It is anticipated that this position would work up to 40 hours per week depending on availability. Work would be completed between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday, but the schedule can be flexible to work around school hours or other obligations. The Town of Truckee is committed to providing an intern with a paid opportunity to gain real world experience while still making a meaningful contribution to the Town and its constituents.
