TNG is a national multidisciplinary risk management consulting firm that serves thousands of colleges, universities, K-12 schools, and organizations and is one of the largest education-specific consulting practices in the country. We focus on risk management solutions, behavioral intervention, threat assessment, civil rights compliance (e.g., Title IX, Title VI, ADA/504), external investigations, expert services—including expert witness testimony—and the development of custom solutions.

TNG also manages two industry-leading professional associations: The Association of Title IX Administrators (“ATIXA”) and The National Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment (“NABITA”).

Position Summary:

The TNG Internship Program – Behavioral Intervention, Threat Assessment, and Case Management Track – is a paid, part-time internship designed for undergraduate, graduate, and recent post-graduate students interested in behavioral intervention, threat assessment, and case management. Interns will gain hands-on experience supporting TNG’s consulting work across educational settings, including behavioral intervention, threat assessment, case management, and institutional/client training initiatives. Interns will have the opportunity to attend TNG and Association trainings at no cost, and get face time with Consultants and experts in the field. The program also provides interns with professional development, applied learning, and exposure to work in a national consulting and education organization.

Responsibilities:

Research & Analysis

  • Conducting research related to behavioral intervention, threat assessment, and case management
  • Summarizing state, federal, and other guidance materials for internal use
  • Supporting research for white papers, blog posts, podcasts, and conference presentations
  • Preparing case law summaries that highlight key facts, holdings, and practical takeaways
  • Assisting with behavioral intervention policy analyses by comparing institutional policies to best practices
  • Developing plain-language research summaries for consultants to use with clients
  • Tracking and documenting emerging trends in best practices

Case Support

  • Preparing client project timelines or process flowcharts
  • Reviewing client files for completeness and consistency (under supervision)

Training & Education

  • Developing slides, handouts, or resource guides for trainings
  • Updating training content to reflect new best practices or guidance
  • Creating knowledge checks, scenarios, or discussion prompts
  • Participating in case simulations

Client Support & Deliverables

  • Drafting internal summaries of client needs or project scopes
  • Assisting with policy implementation guides or companion documents for clients
  • Proofreading and formatting client-facing reports or deliverables
  • Creating FAQs or quick-reference tools for institutional stakeholders

Quality Control & Operations

  • Conducting document reviews for clarity, consistency, and accessibility
  • Assisting with template management (updating standard language, formatting)
  • Supporting internal process documentation (how-to guides, workflows)
  • Organizing and maintaining internal resource libraries

Professional Development & Observation

  • Shadowing consultants during team meetings, trainings, or client meetings (as appropriate)
  • Preparing reflection summaries after observations to reinforce learning
  • Participating in debrief discussions following investigations, trainings, or projects
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Education, Skills & Experience

Required:

  • Enrollment in or recent completion of a bachelor’s or graduate degree program (e.g., College Student Personnel, Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership Doctoral Programs, or similar).
  • Strong interest in behavioral intervention, threat assessment, and/or case management in education settings.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Comfort working in a remote, professional environment.

Work Environment

  • This position is primarily spent in a remote office setting, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.
  • This position is required to work occasional nights and weekends to meet company demands.
  • If in a remote setting, this position requires reliable internet access and virtual collaboration tools.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, you will spend a significant amount of time sitting at a desk, working on computers. Prolonged use of the computer and keyboard is expected. Walking and standing are also common for this role, especially for collaborating with clients, training, or coordinating program events.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds.

This internship is a temporary position for the Summer 2026 program. Compensation will be provided at $20 per hour. Interns are not eligible for TNG’s employee benefit programs, including health, retirement, or paid time off, except as required by applicable federal, state, or local law.

The TNG Internship Program is a project-based educational internship focused on content development, research, and organizational support related to case management, behavioral intervention, and threat assessment across higher education institutions, K-12 schools and districts, and other organizations. This internship is not a law firm internship, does not provide legal training, and does not offer law school-style legal experience, including client representation, legal drafting, or legal practice hours. Applicants seeking traditional law firm or legal practice experience should carefully consider whether this program aligns goals.

That said, interns will have the opportunity to work alongside attorneys and subject matter experts and gain exposure to how practitioners support clients and the broader field in navigating compliance-related issues.
