Position Summary
The Intern - Content Creator supports internal and external communications by developing and executing content that reflects the company's construction and industrial operations. This role plays a key part in connecting field and office employees through clear, engaging storytelling that highlights safety, project execution, workforce culture, and operational success.
The position partners cross-functionally with Communications, Human Resources, Safety, and Operations teams to translate complex field activities into accessible and impactful messaging that supports employee engagement, brand visibility, and recruiting efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Field & Operational Storytelling
- Capture and develop content from active job sites, including photography, video, and employee interviews (as appropriate)
- Produce project updates, milestone highlights, and workforce features that showcase field operations
- Translate technical construction processes into clear, audience-friendly content
- Safety & Culture Communications
- Support the development of safety-related communications, including campaigns, spotlights, and recognition content
- Reinforce company values (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Teamwork, Integrity) through storytelling and messaging
- Assist in creating content that supports field engagement and awareness initiatives
- Develop and edit content for internal communication channels (e.g., intranet, newsletters, leadership communications)
- Support distribution of operational updates and employee engagement messaging
- Ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment of messaging across audiences
- External Brand & Talent Support
- Assist in the creation of content for external platforms, including social media and recruiting materials
- Support employer branding initiatives aimed at attracting craft and professional talent
- Maintain alignment with company brand standards and voice
- Content Coordination & Asset Management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather content and ensure accuracy of information
- Organize and maintain digital content libraries (photos, videos, written materials)
- Support execution of communication plans and campaigns tied to business priorities

Qualifications
Education
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
Experience
- Prior internship, academic projects, or extracurricular experience related to content creation preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, engaging content
- Basic knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication tools
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Willingness to learn construction and industrial operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with design or content tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar)
- Basic photography, videography, and/or video editing skills
- Interest or exposure to construction, engineering, or industrial environments
- Portfolio or samples of previous work (academic or professional)

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Combination of office and active construction site environments
- May require travel to local job sites
- Must comply with all safety requirements, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots when on-site
Work Schedule & Duration
- Temporary internship position (Summer or semester-based)
