The City of Cupertino is recruiting for a temporary non-benefited part-time Innovation Technology Infrastructure Intern
(Intern Ill) under the Infrastructure Division in the Innovation Technology Department. This entry-level classification is responsible for assisting with the City's help desk support operations and aid with projects as assigned by the Innovation Technology Infrastructure Manager. The Intern will also support the team in updating user and technical documentation as well as provide guidelines for user training where appropriate. This is an on-site position that will require travel to multiple sites within the City.

This entry-level position is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited at-will position. Work hours not to exceed 995 hours per fiscal year.

Supervision Received and Exercised

Receives general direction from the Innovation Technology Infrastructure Manager.


Essential Duties

Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.

Assist in maintaining the City's network systems and operations, including responding to daily IT helpdesk requests; engage in proactive problem solving and repair of IT related systems.

Assist in installation, modifying, upgrading, and maintaining existing applications such as but not limited to Windows 11 and Office 365 applications; support, perform research, and execute IT projects as assigned.

Provide user support for software applications and technical expertise to all staff regarding the City's computer network system; assist staff in computer applications.

Assist in configuring, maintaining, upgrading and installing computers, printers and peripheral equipment to the network; install, test and upgrade software; assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical problems.

Research the purchase of computer-related equipment and peripherals.

Establish and maintain open communication with City staff; coordinate activities and work collaboratively and positively in a professional manner.

Qualifications

Knowledge of
TCP/IP network concepts relating but not limited to: design, installation, and maintenance of networks. Understanding of network services such as DHCP, file sharing, and Active Directory.

Microsoft products such as Windows Client/Server, and Office. Principles of good customer service.

Experience and Education
Applicants must be a recent college graduate or a student currently pursuing a degree from a college, university, or technical school with major course work in computer information systems, information technology, networking, MIS, telecommunications, or related field. A 3.0 GPA or higher is desirable.

Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid Class C driver's license is required. Physical Demands
On a continuous basis: stand, sit, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and reach, and lift and carry weight of 30 pounds or less.
