Intern, Strategic Communications, Digital

Position Summary

The Annie E. Casey Foundation’s paid, twelve-week summer program is designed to provide interns with engaging, challenging project-based assignments, cross-team exposure and learning opportunities in a mission-driven environment, working to support their assigned team as well as on a group project with each other. The program will run from June 1–Aug. 21, 2026.

The Foundation is offering an internship to work with its Strategic Communications team, reporting to a communications associate. The role will support the team’s digital efforts across web, email, video and social media, offering hands-on experience creating content, analyzing performance data and contributing to campaigns that amplify the Foundation’s work.

Responsibilities

  • Support a range of digital communications efforts, including drafting and preparing content for the Foundation's website, intranet and social media platforms.
  • Track and report on performance across digital channels; help maintain dashboards and analyze data to inform strategy.
  • Conduct research on digital communications trends and best practices to share insights with the team.
  • Contribute to social media content creation and scheduling.
  • Assist with the production and distribution of email newsletters.
  • Manage other assignments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates should be enrolled in an undergraduate program in communications, journalism or related field.
  • Interest in digital communications, storytelling and data-informed decision-making.

Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Strong strategic thinking, planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong research, interpersonal and analytical skills as well as written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to self-manage and work independently on projects and assignments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point, writing, graphic design and AP Style

Tools and Equipment Used

Telephone, copiers, computer with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, Canva, CMS platforms, Google Analytics, Mailchimp

Physical Demands/Workplace Environment

The work will be performed in a hybrid setting based in Baltimore, MD.

Compensation

This is a temporary position compensated at a rate of $19 to $25 hourly, up to 40 hours per week.
