Internal Medicine Physician

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Internal Medicine Physician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive primary care, manage complex medical conditions, and coordinate patient treatment plans across diverse clinical settings. This role involves working in outpatient and inpatient environments, utilizing advanced medical technologies, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care. Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, and familiarity with clinical research and telehealth modalities are highly valued. The physician will play a vital role in promoting health, preventing disease, and managing acute and chronic illnesses across adult patient populations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments to diagnose medical conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical evaluations.
  • Manage acute and chronic illnesses, including diabetes, hypertension, cardiology, endocrinology, rheumatology, and infectious diseases.
  • Utilize EHR systems like Epic and EMR platforms to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as CT scans, radiology reports, laboratory results, and medical imaging procedures.
  • Coordinate care with specialists in areas including cardiology, neurology, pulmonology, nephrology, oncology, obstetrics/gynecology (Ob/Gyn), pediatrics, psychiatry, and others as needed.
  • Provide preventive care services including immunizations, health coaching, family planning, and screening procedures like mammography.
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives to advance internal medicine practices.
  • Engage in post-operative care management and discharge planning for hospitalized patients.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Contribute to quality improvement efforts adhering to NCQA standards and infection control protocols.
  • Educate patients on health maintenance strategies including nutrition, lifestyle modifications, medication management (including IV infusion), pain management, wound care, and palliative medicine.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff for inpatient care such as ICU experience or Level I/II trauma center protocols; provide triage services in urgent or emergency settings.
  • Assist in managing complex cases involving neurocritical care, pediatric neuropsychology considerations, or reproductive endocrinology as needed.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution with valid licensure to practice medicine.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine is preferred.
  • Proven experience working in outpatient clinics or hospital medicine environments; hospital or Level I trauma center experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms; familiarity with diagnostic radiology tools like CT imaging is desirable.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding, and documentation standards required for accurate billing and recordkeeping.
  • Strong clinical research background or interest is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to perform basic procedures such as suturing or aseptic techniques; experience with pulmonary procedures like airway management or ventilator support is beneficial.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development through participation in clinical trials or continuing education programs related to internal medicine specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, nephrology, or infectious disease care.
  • Must pass background checks and drug screening prior to employment.
