Departmental Objective
Facilities Management is responsible for maintaining campus buildings utilizing the carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC trades as well as housekeeping and floor maintenance.
Purpose of the Position
This position will provide repair and maintenance to smaller HVAC equipment and associated motors and controls. This includes fan coil units, variable air volume units, pumps, valves, actuators, specialized controls, etc. It will operate energy management systems (Tridium.) With training and guidance this position will also assist the Level II Technicians in the diagnosis and repair of large mechanical systems (chillers, boilers, etc)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position
Required:
- Working knowledge of methods, practices, materials and equipment used in air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems to maintain HVAC systems and related equipment in operating condition
- Demonstrated ability to make adjustments to thermostats, gauges, valves, motors and other devices to maintain equipment in proper working order and to document the equipment service records
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to be on-call on a rotational basis
- Ability to abide by all safety policies and wear personal protective equipment as required
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required
Level I Education Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
- Valid Driver’s license
- Ability to receive a Universal EPA License within 1 year of employment
Level I Experience Required:
- Experience in mechanical repair
