International Import/Export Coordinator - Freight Forwarding

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the process of importing/exporting goods, primarily via AIR, including managing documentation, customs clearance, and coordinating with various internal and external parties to ensure the smooth flow of goods. They also oversee the domestic aspects of distribution and transportation, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate international airfreight and ocean freight shipments from pick up to final delivery
  • Arrange bookings with airlines, ocean carriers, and overseas agents
  • Prepare and review shipping documentation (AWB, B/L, commercial invoices, packing lists, AES filings, etc.)
  • Monitor shipment status and proactively update customers
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. export/import regulations and international trade requirements
  • Manage customs clearance processes and work closely with brokers
  • Handle rate negotiations and support pricing requests
  • Resolve shipment delays, discrepancies, and service issues
  • Maintain accurate records in the TMS/ERP system
  • Support business development and customer relationship management efforts

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in international freight forwarding (air and/or ocean)
  • Strong understanding of Incoterms, export documentation, and customs procedures
  • Experience with AES filings and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced logistics environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with TMS systems

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of hazardous cargo regulations (IATA / IMDG)
  • Experience coordinating project cargo or time-sensitive shipments
  • Established carrier and agent network relationships

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000 - $55,000 per year
