International Research Experiences (IRES) Coordinator

The International Research Experience for Students (IRES) Coordinator, operating under the guidance of the Principal Investigators (PIs), assumes responsibility for facilitating the successful execution of the program. Central to this role is supporting the students participating in the program. Duties associated with student participants, include managing application processes, purchasing and travel paperwork, student travel logistics, encompassing airfare, ground transportation, and housing arrangements in the host country. The duties associated with ORSP include assisting the students in laboratory preparations, sample protocols, equipment training, laboratory analysis routine maintenance, and cleaning. Financial stewardship is integral, involving day-to-day budget management, reconciliation of financial accounts, and providing projections for the fiscal year. Post-IRES experience, the coordinator arranges and closes out all the travel expenses and submission of receipts, and prepares a report on the IRES year expenses. In addition, the coordinator organizes and assists the PIs and mentors with presentations where students share their research insights with peers and faculty.
