Job Summary

InTherapy Institute is seeking a full-time Mental Health Administrative Assistant and Billing Specialist with strong experience in behavioral health billing, insurance benefits verification, and provider credentialing for an in-network private practice.

This role primarily supports the financial and operational side of the practice, including submitting and tracking psychotherapy insurance claims, verifying client benefits and eligibility, managing accounts receivable, resolving claim denials, and overseeing provider credentialing and re-credentialing processes. Experience with SimplePractice EHR is preferred.

The position also provides daily phone coverage to assist with client inquiries and support intake coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Submit, track, and manage psychotherapy insurance claims through SimplePractice EHR
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, deductibles, co-pays, and authorization requirements prior to services
  • Follow up on unpaid, delayed, or denied claims and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Post insurance and client payments accurately
  • Communicate with insurance carriers and other payer platforms regarding claims status, reimbursement, and billing issues
  • Assist with provider credentialing and re-credentialing applications and ongoing maintenance
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and HIPAA-compliant billing and credentialing documentation
  • Support financial reporting and accounts receivable management
  • Provide consistent, professional phone coverage during business hours
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to patient billing and scheduling inquiries
  • Conduct new client intake coordination (collect demographics, insurance information, and schedule appointments)
  • Respond to emails timely and in a professional manner
  • Make outbound follow-up calls to clients when necessary
  • Follow up on claims to determine collection status with insurance companies
  • Able to be flexible for what the company needs i.e schedule change and work responsibilities

Required Experience & Skills

  • Mental health / psychotherapy billing experience (required)
  • SimplePractice EHR experience (strongly preferred)
  • Insurance verification and claims follow-up experience
  • Strong phone and customer service skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently
  • Knowledge in Google, Excel, Dialpad, Word

Preferred Experience

  • Behavioral health or psychotherapy practice setting
  • Intake coordination or administrative support experience
  • Credentialing experience with commercial insurance payors

Schedule

  • Full-time; remote; hourly, W2, 9a-5:30p EST
  • Regular phone coverage and client communication required

Compensation

  • $52K-$62K yearly, based on experience
