Inventory Accountant

Caracol Sports is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Inventory Accountant to join our finance team in Al Rayyan. In this role, you will manage all aspects of inventory accounting, including stock valuation, inventory reconciliations, and cost analysis. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting of inventory transactions, supporting the efficiency of our supply chain, and providing critical insights to optimize inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring proper valuation and reconciliation of stock movements
• Track and account for inventory purchases, transfers, and usage across various product categories
• Prepare monthly and quarterly inventory reports, highlighting key performance indicators and cost metrics
• Work closely with the procurement and operations teams to ensure inventory aligns with financial records
• Assist in cost accounting activities, including calculating cost of goods sold (COGS), gross profit margin, and stock turnover ratios
• Reconcile inventory accounts, identifying discrepancies and resolving any issues
• Monitor and report on obsolete, slow-moving, and excess inventory, providing recommendations for disposal or write-off
• Support the year-end audit process by providing necessary inventory-related financial documentation
• Collaborate with senior management to analyze inventory data and make recommendations for cost savings and operational improvements
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and internal controls for inventory management

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• Proven experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, or a related role
• Strong understanding of inventory valuation methods (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average) and stock management principles
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software (experience with ERP systems is a plus)
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and inventory tracking
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in retail, manufacturing, or sports-related industries is a plus
• Familiarity with inventory management software or systems
• Knowledge of IFRS or other accounting standards applicable to inventory management
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CIMA, or similar
