Job Title: Inventory Control and Optimization Analyst

Reports to: Vice President of Category & Inventory Management
Job Summary: The Inventory Control & Optimization Analyst is a corporate-level role responsible for enterprise-wide inventory health, accuracy, and optimization across ProSource’s wholesale distribution network. This position partners closely with Purchasing, Operations, and Branch Leadership to ensure inventory investments are aligned with demand, service-level expectations, and financial objectives.
This role is designed for an experienced inventory professional who can take ownership of inventory outcomes rather than provide purely tactical support. The position is expected to grow over time and serve as the foundation for a broader corporate inventory control function.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control & Optimization

Own enterprise inventory health across all branches and stocking locations

Monitor and actively reduce excess, surplus, and obsolete inventory

Identify inventory risk related to overbuying, slow-moving SKUs, and poor turns

Partner with Purchasing to align buys with demand trends and service objectives

Evaluate and adjust min/max levels and stocking strategies

Support branch inventory optimization through transfers and rebalancing
Replenishment & Demand Support

Analyze sales trends and historical usage to support purchasing decisions

Provide actionable insights rather than owning statistical forecasting models

Identify demand anomalies and usage changes impacting inventory health
Inventory Accuracy & Governance

Review branch cycle counts and identify systemic accuracy issues

Support physical inventory processes and reconciliation efforts

Establish inventory control standards and best practices
ERP & Product Enablement

Ensure inventory-critical product data in ERP is accurate and functional

Support new item setup from an inventory and stocking perspective

Partner with category and data teams without owning full master-data governance
Reporting & Analysis

Track and report key KPIs: turns, days on hand, fill rates, and excess inventory

Deliver insights and recommendations to leadership

Support continuous improvement tied to cash and service performance
Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience

3–7 years of experience in inventory control, optimization, or purchasing support

Wholesale distribution experience preferred (plumbing, electrical, or similar)

Strong understanding of inventory lifecycle and service-level tradeoffs
-
ERP experience required (Solar Eclipse strongly preferred)

Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical mindset

Ability to work independently and take ownership
