Job Summary:
The Inventory Controller is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate records of the company's inventory, optimizing stock levels, minimizing carrying costs, and ensuring a seamless flow of goods to meet operational and customer demand. This role is crucial for financial control and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:

Accuracy: Develop, implement, and maintain inventory control procedures and policies to ensure maximum accuracy between physical stock and system records (e.g., ERP/WMS).

Counting: Plan and execute daily/weekly cycle counting programs and full physical inventories, investigating and reconciling all discrepancies.

Movement Tracking: Monitor and track all inbound, outbound, and internal inventory movements, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly and in a timely manner.

Optimization & Forecasting

Stock Levels: Analyze inventory data (e.g., turnover, carrying costs) to establish and maintain optimal stock levels, reorder points, and safety stock.

Demand Planning: Collaborate with sales and procurement teams to review historical data and market trends to improve demand forecasting accuracy and prevent stockouts or overstocking.

Cost Reduction: Identify opportunities for process improvements to reduce inventory shrinkage, obsolescence, and holding costs.

Reporting & Auditing

Reporting: Prepare and distribute regular inventory reports on stock status, variances, slow-moving or obsolete inventory (SLOB), and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management review.

Audits: Conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with company inventory policies and quality standards.

Data Integrity: Maintain the integrity of the inventory management database, including item master data, locations, and unit of measure conversions.

Collaboration & Process Improvement

Cross-Functional Liaison: Work closely with Warehouse Operations, Procurement, Sales, and Finance teams to streamline the entire supply chain and resolve inventory-related issues.

Training: Train warehouse and other relevant staff on best practices for inventory handling, counting, and system usage.

Safety & Organization: Ensure the inventory storage areas are organized, safe, and comply with all regulatory standards.
Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Experience: Proven experience (5+ years) in inventory control, logistics, or a similar role.
Technical Skills:

Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Odoo) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
