About Indian Creek

Our mission:
To honor God by growing quality, convenience, and character. Our vision: Through the direction of the Holy Spirit, to create economic opportunity and enrich the landscape of the Tennessee Valley.

Our core values :
Grateful, Respect, Optimism, Willing to Serve, Committed to Teamwork, Honesty — guide how we act every day. If you join us, you’ll be part of a purpose-driven team that values clean, accurate inventory, dependable service, and character in every customer interaction. We want people who will get in the yard, own the systems, model our values, and make a positive, Christ-honoring impact across the Valley.

Are you a hands-on nursery person who actually knows plants? We need a dependable, no-nonsense Inventory & Procurement Manager who understands plant material, sizes, substitutions, and grower lead times — and who can own inventory accuracy, buying, and inbound logistics so our crews and customers never run short.

Why this role matters
You’ll run the system that keeps our yard stocked, our crews productive, and our customers happy. This isn’t desk work only — you’ll be in the yard routinely, coordinating freight, negotiating with growers, and making tough decisions that protect margin and service.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain optimal plant stock levels: reorder planning, safety stock, and reducing dead/slow inventory.
  • Run weekly inventory reviews (CounterPoint POS), walk the yard to verify on-hand, and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Generate purchase requests/POs, confirm vendor availability, negotiate terms, and track order status; coordinate freight/truck brokers.
  • Oversee receiving: staging, blocking, tagging, and communicating incoming/pre-sold material to Sales & Design.
  • Lead cycle counts (80/20), maintain records, report KPIs (accuracy, spoilage, valuation, GP), and drive continuous improvement.
  • Suggest relevant substitutions when requested varieties are unavailable.

Must-have (non-negotiable)

  • Real nursery experience. You must understand plant material, container and B&B sizes (gallon sizes, caliper/B&B sizing), common substitutions, linings, and grower timelines.
  • Proven ability to read and act on inventory reports.
  • Strong organizational and negotiation skills; comfortable coordinating logistics and talking to growers, truckers, and internal teams.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and getting physically involved in yard operations.
  • Valid Drivers License and clean drug test.

Nice to have

  • Experience with QuickBooks and Excel for reporting.
  • Background in horticulture, landscape supply, or contractor/wholesale fulfillment.

Compensation & benefits

  • Starting pay $20/hr (DOE) — weekly pay; overtime eligible.Health, vision, dental (Blue Cross Blue Shield) with employer contribution; Simple IRA match; PTO; wellness perks. Full benefits per company policy.
