Job Description – Inventory Manager (Frozen Food Industry)

Position: Inventory Manager
Industry: Frozen Food / Cold Storage / FMCG
Location: Gurugram
Reporting To: Operations Manager / Supply Chain Head

Role Overview:

The Inventory Manager will be responsible for managing and controlling inventory levels of frozen food products, ensuring accurate stock records, maintaining storage standards, and coordinating smooth inbound and outbound operations. The ideal candidate must have prior experience in frozen or chilled food inventory management and a strong understanding of cold-chain handling.

Key Responsibilities:1. Inventory Control & Stock Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for all frozen food SKUs.
  • Conduct regular stock counts (daily/weekly/monthly) and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Track product shelf life, batch numbers, and expiry dates.
  • Ensure correct FIFO & FEFO implementation for frozen products.
  • Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking.

2. Cold Storage Management

  • Oversee temperature-controlled storage areas and ensure proper functioning of freezers (-18°C to -24°C and other required zones).
  • Ensure food safety standards, hygiene, and cold-chain protocols are strictly followed.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams for timely freezer inspections and repairs.

3. Inbound & Outbound Coordination

  • Manage receiving of raw materials and finished products.
  • Verify quality, quantity, and temperature of incoming stock.
  • Plan and supervise dispatches to outlets, distributors, or clients.
  • Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely movement of frozen goods.

4. Documentation & System Updates

  • Update inventory in ERP/Software (SAP, Tally, Zoho, or POS systems).
  • Maintain GRN, delivery challans, batch records, and expiry logs.
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly inventory reports.

5. Team Management

  • Supervise storekeepers, loaders, and cold-store staff.
  • Ensure proper training for FIFO, handling frozen goods, and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor productivity and manpower allocation.

6. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with FSSAI food handling standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and pest-control protocols in cold rooms.
  • Implement safety practices for handling weight, equipment, and cold environments.

Key Skills Required:

  • Strong knowledge of frozen food handling, cold-chain operations, and storage.
  • Expertise in inventory software/ERP.
  • Good understanding of FIFO/FEFO principles.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in low-temperature environments.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Food Technology, or related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in inventory management, preferably in frozen foods, cold storage, QSR, FMCG, or hospitality operations.
  • Experience in managing large SKU volumes and cold-chain logistics is highly preferred.

Salary Range:

Range: 30,000 to 35,000

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
