About the Role:


The Inventory Strategy & Control Specialist is a key team member supporting Thomas Global Systems’ operations by driving effective inventory planning, control, and optimization strategies for aircraft parts, components, and materials. This role is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring full traceability, and balancing material availability with cost efficiency, particularly for high-value and long-lead avionics components. The position focuses on optimizing stock levels, managing work-in-process (WIP), and preventing excess or obsolete inventory while supporting production readiness. Working within FAA Part 145, EASA, and AS9100 regulatory frameworks, this role operates in a clean, safe, and organized environment and ensures compliance with all company procedures and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Strategy & Optimization: Own and drive inventory strategy for avionics components, balancing availability, cost, and risk through data-driven planning and forecasting.
  • Safety Stock & Planning Policies: Establish and manage safety stock levels, reorder points, and planning parameters to support production continuity and mitigate supply risk.
  • Obsolescence & Lifecycle Management: Lead efforts to prevent excess and obsolete inventory by monitoring part revisions, engineering changes, and demand trends; define disposition strategies.
  • WIP Oversight & Flow Optimization: Monitor and analyze work-in-process (WIP), identify bottlenecks, and implement actions to improve material flow and reduce aging.
  • Shortage Prevention & Risk Management: Proactively identify supply constraints and shortages; coordinate cross-functionally to develop mitigation plans and ensure material availability.
  • Inventory Performance Analysis: Track and report on key metrics (inventory turns, WIP aging, shortages), providing insights and recommendations to improve operational efficiency.
  • System & Data Integrity: Ensure accuracy of inventory data and planning parameters within ERP/MRP systems; drive improvements in data quality and process consistency.
  • Regulatory & Quality Leadership: Ensure inventory control processes meet FAA, EASA, and AS9100 requirements; support audits and maintain audit-ready systems and records.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Procurement, Engineering, Production, and Quality to align inventory strategy with business and operational objectives.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inventory control, reduce waste, and improve overall supply chain performance.
  • Guidance & Support: Provide direction and support to stockroom and operational staff to ensure effective execution of inventory processes and controls.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management

Required Skills, Experience and Behaviors:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in aerospace logistics, inventory control, material handling, or supply chain operations.
  • Working knowledge of FAA Part 145 requirements, AS9100 standards, and aerospace traceability and documentation practices.
  • Ability to interpret Bills of Materials (BOMs), work orders, engineering drawings, and revision-controlled documentation.
  • Experience using Excel and ERP/MRP systems for inventory transactions, kitting, and material tracking.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a high level of accuracy in a regulated environment.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing, repair, assembly, avionics, or component logistics preferred.
  • Supply chain, logistics, or quality-related certifications (e.g., APICS/ASCM) are preferred.
  • Exposure to lean or continuous improvement practices such as 5S or Kanban is preferred.
  • Confirmed NEGATIVE results for drug and alcohol testing in compliance with 14 CFR Part 120 and 49 CFR Part 40.

Compensation range of $30 - $34 per hour depending on experience. The final pay offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to location, skill set; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.
