Inventory/Freight Manager

Job description Responsibilities:- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the yard, including inventory management, materials handling, and dispatching.- Develop and implement efficient processes to optimize yard operations and improve productivity.- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies.- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline supply chain management and enhance overall operational efficiency.- Monitor and maintain accurate records of yard activities, including inventory levels, equipment usage, and maintenance schedules.- Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to increase efficiency and reduce costs.- Manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers and negotiate favorable terms and pricing.- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with quality regulations and company policies. Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations management, or a related field preferred.- Proven experience in yard management or a similar role, with a strong understanding of logistics operations.- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify process improvement opportunities.- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.- Knowledge of materials handling techniques and best practices.- Experience in sourcing materials from various suppliers and managing vendor relationships.-Knowledge and willingness to use safety standards of forklift operation, use lockout procedures and wear necessary PPE.-Ability to work closely with others; be a team player/leader; demonstrate good communication skills, and a positive attitude. -Ability to work with little direct supervision and be self-motivated. - Familiarity with category management principles for effective procurement strategies.
