Salary: $40,000 per year
General Duties:
- Under the general direction from the elected District Attorney or Assistant District Attorneys, will handle sensitive criminal (and occasionally non-criminal investigations) which come under the jurisdiction of the Cameron County District Attorney.

Assist victims of Felony and Misdemeanor crimes by keeping them informed on case status and court proceedings.

Assist trial team (prosecutors) in trial preparation and provide court accompaniment.

Assist trial team (prosecutors) in locating and transporting witnesses for trial preparations in Felony and Misdemeanor cases as assigned.

Assist trial team (prosecutors) in securing information pertaining to cases as needed (i.e. - records, lab reports, etc.).

Work on assignments outside of normal 8am-5pm office hours, including weekends, as requested by the District Attorney and trial teams.
- Represent the D.A.'s Office at community events to build and maintain positive relationships with the public.

Complete all other duties assigned by the District Attorney.

Operations of standard office equipment (including fax machines, copiers, and computers.)

Routine office software (including word processing, databases, e-mail and internet access.)

Conduct criminal investigations and background checks.
Ability to:

Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing (i.e. correct English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar).

Communicate effectively orally in Spanish.

Read and understand legal documents related case materials.

Maintain sensitive and confidential information.

Accomplish the assigned workload in a timely manner.

Be an independent thinker with a positive team-player attitude.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other law enforcement agencies and the public.
Education and Experience

High school diploma required.
- BA in criminal justice preferred.
Other Qualifications, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must hold an active TCOLE Advanced Peace Officer Certification.
- Must have a valid Texas Motor Vehicle Operator's License and an acceptable record.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
This is not a Civil Service covered position.
