INVESTMENT OFFICER:

First State Trust Company (‘FSTC’) is seeking an Investment Officer to assist in the analysis and fiduciary oversight of discretionary trust portfolios to serve our rapidly growing client base. The Investment Officer will perform analysis of existing and potential client portfolios to ensure portfolios are managed in accordance with trust objectives and company policies. He or she will also provide support to Trust Officers and for various projects and company initiatives to enhance the firm’s product offerings. Successful applicants will have financial, analytical, and technical skills as well as a genuine curiosity for capital markets.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Review new client portfolios and determine appropriate investment objectives based on all relevant details including time horizon, distribution requirements, trust specific goals and provisions, and any special circumstances.

· Perform annual reviews of discretionary portfolios to ensure client investment objectives are appropriate and that portfolios are compliant with firm investment policies.

· Support Trust Officers in the management and administration of Trust relationships.

· Assist in the due diligence and oversight of portfolio managers, brokerage firms, and registered investment advisory firm partners to ensure their strategies, products, and portfolio construction techniques are appropriate for client portfolios.

· Interface directly with financial advisors from our partner firms and coordinate the generation of investment proposals for new clients as well as allocation changes for existing client portfolios to ensure assets are being managed appropriately.

· Track client portfolios and exceptions that need action per relevant investment policies, and work with financial advisors to resolve in a timely manner.

· Assist in the monitoring and oversight of unique and specialty assets (Real Estate, LLCs, Oil & Gas interests, etc.) that are held within discretionary trusts.

· Support and enhance the statistical reporting packages produced for the firm’s various committees and participate in meetings.

· Perform other assigned tasks and projects as needed working closely with other members of the Investment Group.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.

· Excellent computer skills including thorough understanding of Microsoft Office.

· General understanding of asset allocation and portfolio management concepts.

· Ability to work independently on multiple assignments in a fast paced environment.

· 4-7 years of relevant experience. Experience with the financial advisory or trust industry a plus.

· Progress towards or a desire to pursue a professional designation a plus (CFP, CFA, CTFA, AIF).
