Role Overview

The lead IoT/Embedded Systems Engineer role is the intersection between the hardware and software teams. You will take full ownership, maintenance and ongoing development of hardware products serving as the interface for the Software Developer and DevOps leads.

As product owner, you’ll take ownership and provide thought-leadership on security elements working closely in tandem with the interim-CISO to embed security engineering and privacy principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Migration : Understand product architecture/composition to enhance existing architectural diagrams and ensure all technical documentation from third-party delivery partners are delivered as part of a migration and handover of services
• Architecture : provide insights and risk-based advice to support in making technical decisions about hardware configuration and the structure of backend systems integration with dev teams
• Ownership: own and manage all aspects of the product hardware from enhancements, establishing maintenance protocols, and secure configuration
• Collaborate: work with multiple stakeholders, such as, technical leads and executives providing thought leadership and support in key strategic decision making

Required Skills

• Web Development : skilled in web development technologies, including NodeJS, Typescript, JavaScript, PHP, and CSS, for building user-friendly and responsive web applications. NodeJS and Associated Technologies - profi cient in NodeJS and related frameworks and libraries such as NestJS, ExpressJS, ReactJS, Ant Design, MaterialUI, and TypeORM for server-side and front-end development.
• IoT Development : experience in hardware and firmware development for IoT devices across various platforms using underlying languages such as C, C++, Python and Node-Red technologies.
• Wireless Technologies and Solutions : experience in developing wireless solutions for IoT, including GSM, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth technologies.
• Database Development : skilled in database projecting, development and management with expertise in MySQL, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and DynamoDB for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Cloud Services : experienced in utilising cloud services from major providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) for IoT and Web applications and data storage.
• Operating Systems : familiar with a range of operating systems including Linux, Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android, enabling cross-platform development.
• CI/CD Version Control and Project Management : proficient in using version control tools like GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Subversion, and project management with JIRA for efficient collaboration and Slack for communication.
• User Experience (UX) Enhancement : adept at improving user experience through thoughtful design and usability considerations, ensuring user satisfaction.
• Software Engineering Knowledge : strong foundation in software engineering principles and practices, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field ( Desirable )
