Muncy, Geissler, Olds & Lowe PC is seeking a motivated IP Assistant to help support our expanding U.S. patent prosecution team. This role can be part-time or full-time, with training, growth, and long-term stability for the right person.
What You’ll Do
You’ll play a key role in keeping our patent practice running smoothly by supporting U.S. patent prosecution from initial filing to allowance. Daily tasks include:
You will prepare and file a wide range of USPTO submissions, such as:

New utility, design, provisional, and plant patent applications

ADS forms (original and supplemental)
-
Assignments and ownership/chain-of-title documents
-
Declarations and powers of attorney
-
IDS submissions (including gathering references and preparing PTO/SB forms)
-
Priority documents, preliminary amendments, and translations
-
Responses to pre-examination notices (Missing Parts, Notices to Comply, etc.)
-
Filing receipt corrections, corrective assignments, certificates of correction
-
Office Action responses, RCEs, CPAs, AFCP requests, extensions, terminal disclaimers
-
Appeal filings (Notices of Appeal, briefs, reply briefs)
-
Maintenance fee payments
-
Petitions and other USPTO filings as needed

Proofread and format attorney- and agent-prepared documents
-
Track deadlines, maintain compliance with USPTO rules and internal procedures
-
Assist with billing, docketing, status checks, and client communications
-
Support additional administrative or project-based tasks as assigned

Requirements:
What We’re Looking For

2+ years of general IP experience
-
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
-
Excellent proofreading skills and strong attention to detail
-
Solid writing and organizational skills
-
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
-
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and basic computer tasks
-
Ability to lift/carry 20 lbs
-
High school diploma or GED (college degree a plus)
We will train you on PerfectLaw, EFS, EPAS, CTS, and other tools we use.
