We are Lokking for IPD Counsellor is responsible for guiding admitted patients and their families regarding treatment processes, hospital services, documentation, financial counselling, and discharge planning. The role ensures smooth coordination between patients, doctors, nursing staff, and billing departments while enhancing patient satisfaction and compliance.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Counselling & Support
- Counsel patients and attendants at the time of admission regarding hospital policies, treatment plans, and expected course of stay.
- Provide emotional support and address patient concerns in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Explain procedures, investigations, consent requirements, and estimated timelines as guided by the clinical team.
Coordination with Clinical Teams
- Act as a liaison between doctors, nursing staff, and patient families for treatment updates.
- Ensure all necessary consents are explained and signed before procedures/surgeries.
- Coordinate with departments for investigations, procedures, and interdepartmental services.
Financial Counselling
- Explain estimated treatment costs, package details, and billing procedures to patients/attendants.
- Coordinate with the billing department for approvals, advance deposits, and final settlements.
- Assist patients with insurance, TPA, and corporate documentation processes.
Admission & Documentation Support
- Verify completion of admission documentation and assist patients in required formalities.
- Maintain accurate counselling records and ensure compliance with hospital protocols.
- Ensure all medico-legal and administrative requirements are followed.
Discharge Planning
- Coordinate discharge process including billing clearance, reports, and patient education.
- Counsel patients regarding follow-up visits, medications, and home care instructions.
- Ensure smooth discharge experience with minimal waiting time.
Patient Experience & Grievance Handling
- Address patient complaints promptly and escalate issues when required.
- Work towards improving patient satisfaction scores and service quality.
- Conduct regular patient rounds for feedback and service recovery.
Compliance & Quality
- Adhere to hospital quality standards, safety protocols, and ethical practices.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Support audits, documentation checks, and quality improvement initiatives.
3. Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate in Healthcare Management / Social Work / Psychology / Any Life Sciences field.
- 2–5 years of experience in hospital IPD coordination, patient counselling, or healthcare operations.
- Experience in handling insurance/TPA processes will be preferred.
4. Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong counselling and problem-solving ability.
- Knowledge of hospital workflows, billing systems, and documentation.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Good coordination, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (HIS, MS Office, email communication).
5. Working Conditions
- Rotational duty as per hospital schedule.
