Irrigation Mechanic

The Irrigation Mechanic is to operate, maintain and repair all irrigation equipment operated by Hartung Brothers employees.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all maintenance and repairs when needed on all irrigation equipment including but not limited to gear boxes, piping, lines, wiring, well heads, valves, motors and electrical systems.
  • Keep pivots and irrigation vehicles running as needed, ensuring all functions are operating as recommended.
  • Fertigation duties assigned which include pump repair, tank maintenance, hauling and handling fertilizer.
  • Perform all appropriate seasonal maintenance duties as scheduled by the Irrigation Manager and recommended by the operation manual.
  • Continually learn software of irrigation systems and report all updates to Irrigation Manager.
  • Upgrade systems as requested and required over time.
  • Continually monitor and report all mechanical, structural, and electrical issues to supervisory management.
  • Assist farm management by being available to operate or drive all the various types of equipment needed in the company’s farm operations and maintain knowledge of the computer controls used in said equipment.
  • Comply with company and customer regulations and policies.
  • Continually monitor and report all health, safety and food concerns or deviations to supervisory management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the operation, maintenance and repair of center pivot irrigation systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of electrical systems, pumps and motors on irrigation systems.
  • Commercial Driver License, or ability to obtain a CDL, with a tank endorsement.
  • Candidate be a self-motivated and detail-oriented person with high drive to be able to focus in a high tempo environment with ability to adapt to changing situations daily.
  • Good mechanical aptitude, with the ability to detect and correct mechanical problems on equipment.
  • Proficient in all types of welding (TIG, MIG, stick and gas torch).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Pay scale will be determined by qualifications. Fall bonus based on performance.
  • Must have knowledge of health, safety and food safety standards pertaining to the agricultural infrastructure (training provided).

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
