Position Summary:
The Trainee Irrigation Technician assists with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial irrigation systems. Under the guidance of experienced team members, the trainee will learn to diagnose irrigation issues, perform system start-ups and winterizations, and ensure plant material receives the proper amount of water.
This position is designed as a development role, and the employee will be trained to become a fully independent, stand-alone Irrigation Technician over time.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in servicing, repairing, and troubleshooting residential and commercial irrigation systems.
- Learn the proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment used in the irrigation industry.
- Assist with irrigation system start-ups, adjustments, and winterizations.
- Help inspect irrigation systems to identify leaks, damaged components, or performance issues.
- Assist with the installation, repair, and replacement of valves, timers, solenoids, main lines, lateral lines, and sleeves.
- Learn to read irrigation plans and blueprints to understand head placement, zones, and system layouts.
- Work effectively as part of a team while developing the ability to perform tasks independently.
- Meet and communicate professionally with clients on job sites.
- Develop a basic understanding of irrigation technology and controller systems.
- Learn and follow company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Assist in monitoring job progress and maintaining productivity standards.
- Maintain assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment in clean and safe working condition.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Participate in hands-on training with the goal of progressing to a fully independent, stand-alone Irrigation Technician role.

Irrigation Technician
- Irrigation Technician Trainee
Qualifications: Driver's license. Has a troubleshooting mindset, along with an aptitude for embracing challenges. Should show willingness and eagerness to learn, interest in the field, and promote a customer service mindset.
- KPI's:
- First-Visit Fix Rate: 80-90% of issues resolved without a return visit
- Mean Time to Repair: ≤2-3 hours to restore system operation
- System Uptime: 98–99% of zones operational during irrigation season
- Repeat Repair Rate: <10% of repairs recurring within 30 days
- Zones Serviced per Day: ~30-60 zones inspected or serviced depending on site size
- Billable Work: ~90%+ hours to be Billable work (Ex. 40 hour week 36 hours billable)
- KPI's are to be directed and grown towards the metrics of an irrigation technician, meeting goals within 6 month evalutaion period.

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
