Part-Time Nanny / Mother’s Helper

Location: Point Loma

Munchkin Minders is assisting a wonderful Christian family in Point Loma in finding a part-time nanny / mother’s helper, available to start as soon as possible.

About the Family

The family has three boys (ages 7, 5, and 2.5) and is expecting a baby girl in September.

The boys are described as wonderful, kind, and very active. The family prioritizes:

• Self-guided play
• Outdoor activities such as biking, trips to the beach, and visits to Balboa Park
• Very limited screen time, as screens are rarely used in the home

Additional details about the children:

• The 7-year-old attends school.
• The 5-year-old attends a nature school three days per week.
• The 2.5-year-old is fully potty trained, communicates very well, and enjoys going on “adventures.”

Schedule

The family is ideally looking for someone available:

• Friday: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
• One additional day: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible)

The family currently has another nanny working Monday–Thursday, but she may transition to three days per week in order to dedicate time to ministry work.

They have found that having two nannies works best, as it allows flexibility and backup support if someone is:

• Sick
• Traveling
• Needs a half day off

If the nanny is interested in additional hours, the family may be able to accommodate this.

Health & Lifestyle

The family is looking for someone who is very mindful of their health.

They take a natural and holistic approach to health due to a serious medical experience with their oldest child. At 2 months old, he experienced a severe neurological reaction to his first vaccine, which resulted in:

• Seizures
• Brain swelling
• Nystagmus
• Eczema

Because of this experience, the family no longer vaccinates their children. They are open to sharing more information about this experience with a prospective nanny if desired.

Ideal Candidate

The family is seeking someone who is:

• Active, energetic, and physically strong
• Able to keep up with very active children
• Comfortable in a busy and physically active environment

The children enjoy:

• Bike rides
• Playing soccer
• Going to the beach

The home also has several flights of stairs, so the nanny should be comfortable navigating a multi-level home.

The family asks that applicants only apply if they consider themselves physically active and prioritize their health.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Must not have children under 18 years old, as the family needs someone who can occasionally stay late or arrive early when needed.
• Must be able to communicate well in English.

English does not need to be the applicant’s primary language, but fluency is required.

• Must have a clean driving record.

The family provides a new minivan specifically for the children’s transportation, which the nanny will drive while working.

• Must be able to commit long-term (minimum of one year).

Consistency and strong bonds with the children are very important to the family. One of their previous nannies was with them for four years and became like family, and they hope to find someone who will become a similar long-term presence in their children’s lives.

• Must live within 20 miles of Point Loma.
• Must be able to pass an extensive background check, including:
• Fingerprinting
• Full background screening

Job Responsibilities

The parents are very involved with their children, so the nanny will rarely be alone or fully responsible for all three children at once.

The family is not expecting every responsibility to be completed every day, but they appreciate someone who stays engaged and looks for ways to be helpful throughout the day.

The nanny will also not need to assist much with the baby until 2028, as the mother plans to be on maternity leave through the end of the year.

Responsibilities may vary depending on the family’s weekly schedule and may include:

• Preparing healthy meals and snacks
• Creating art projects and activities for the children
• Keeping the home tidy and organized

The family has a housekeeper who comes twice per week, so deep cleaning is not expected. The nanny would simply clean up as activities happen throughout the day.

Additional tasks may include:

• Folding laundry
• Basic food preparation when time permits

The family primarily eats vegan whole foods, so food prep may involve simple tasks such as:

• Steaming vegetables
• Roasting potatoes
• Chopping cucumbers and fruit

The nanny may also occasionally assist with:

• School drop-off and pickup

However, the parents enjoy doing these themselves whenever their schedules allow.

Compensation

• Up to $30 per hour
• Christmas bonus

The family strongly believes in taking care of the people who care for their children and strives to be generous and supportive. For the right candidate, compensation is not a limiting factor.
