Job Title: IT Project Manager – Correctional Institution Projects
Location: Coconut Creek, FL (Monday–Thursday onsite, Fridays remote)
Type: 3 – 12 month contract
Overview
HealthyMD is seeking a highly skilled technical Project Manager to lead correctional healthcare projects and manage initiatives tied to our current EHR system, which is being retired. This role will also oversee bug fixes, enhancements, and issue resolutions across existing platforms.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in successful healthcare technology implementations, preferably with a correctional healthcare background, and the ability to hit the ground running. This individual will collaborate closely with the Clinical EHR Project Manager and other PMs to ensure continuity across resource assignments, design, build, and implementation phases. Reporting directly to the CIO, this role is pivotal in standing up a PMO foundation, driving operational excellence, and supporting HealthyMD’s growth in correctional partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution

Develop correctional project/program artifacts (e.g., Technical one-pagers, charters, matrices, etc.).

Define project scope, goals, and deliverables aligned with business objectives and stakeholder expectations.

Develop comprehensive project plans, including milestones, timelines, budgets, and communication strategies.

Lead correctional healthcare implementations and integrations with EHR, pharmacies, TPAs, and data warehouses.

Oversee defects, bug, and issue management for correctional and non-correctional projects.

Ensure timely delivery of projects using Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid methodologies.

Communicate verbally and in writing (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) at all levels of the organization.

Provide timely project status updates, meeting minutes, etc. to project teams, stakeholders and CIO.
Strategic PMO Development

Contribute to establishing HealthyMD’s PMO framework, including governance, templates, and best practices.

Drive process improvement initiatives to optimize workflows and enhance operational efficiency.

Recommend digital capabilities and AI-driven automation for project tracking and reporting.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management

Schedule and lead vendor demos, ensuring alignment with project requirements.

Develop vendor scorecards, KPIs, and ROI analysis to support decision-making.

Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, serving as the primary liaison for integration projects.

Negotiate contracts and manage vendor deliverables to ensure compliance and quality standards.

Collaborate with internal teams (clinical, IT, operations, sales) and external partners to align project objectives.
Process Mapping & Future State Design

Conduct current-state and future-state process mapping for correctional workflows and EHR transition.

Identify gaps for interoperability and operational efficiency.
Risk, Compliance & Security

Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing contingency plans as needed.

Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITRUST, TEFCA, and security standards throughout all projects.

Participate in security audits and change management processes.
Reporting & Communication

Prepare and deliver progress reports, executive presentations, and requirements documentation.

Conduct project post-mortems and develop lessons-learned reports for continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree: Information Technology, Computer Science, or Software Engineering, Business Administration

PMP, CSM, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
- 5+ years of technical project management experience in healthcare IT environments.

Proven success in EHR implementations, including interface and interoperability requirements.

Strong experience managing vendor projects and integrations, including secure connections.

Ability to stand up projects independently and drive results without constant direction.

Proficiency with Azure DevOps (ADO), Jira, and project planning tools (MS Project).

Expertise in Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and hybrid methodologies.

PMP, CSM, or equivalent certification preferred.

Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and adapt to minimal initial processes.
Preferred Skills

Correctional healthcare experience is strongly desired.
