IT Compliance Analyst

Position: IT Compliance Analyst

Classification: Full-time, Non-exempt

Reports to: IT Operations Manager

Company: Director, Information Systems

Location: Houston, TX

Position Description:

The IT Compliance Analyst supports the secure and accurate management of user access across the organization’s information systems. This role is responsible for executing established access control processes for employees, contractors, and vendors, ensuring that access is provisioned, modified, and deprovisioned in a timely, compliant, and auditable manner. The position helps safeguard organizational data by maintaining adherence to security policies, regulatory requirements, and internal control standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

Identity & Access Administration

  • Provision, modify, and remove user access based on approved access requests
  • Perform onboarding, offboarding, and role changes following documented procedures
  • Assign role-based access and system licenses using predefined access profiles
  • Manage basic account lifecycle tasks such as password resets, account disabling, and reactivation
  • Identify and report orphaned, inactive, or duplicate user accounts

Access Reviews & Compliance Support

  • Assist with periodic user access reviews and certifications
  • Collect and document access information for audit and compliance support
  • Maintain records of access approvals, changes, and exceptions
  • Follow established access control policies, standards, and procedures
  • Escalate access exceptions or potential risks to senior IT or security staff

Security & Incident Support

  • Monitor and respond to access-related service tickets and requests
  • Escalate suspicious or inappropriate access activity for investigation
  • Support access cleanup activities during or following security incidents
  • Follow security best practices related to confidentiality and least privilege

Documentation & Process Support

  • Maintain and update access documentation, runbooks, and procedures
  • Maintain system access lists, role definitions, and access matrices
  • Follow standardized workflows for access requests and approvals
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements

Collaboration & Communication

  • Coordinate with Human Resources on onboarding, offboarding, and employee changes
  • Work with system owners to ensure access requests align with defined roles
  • Communicate clearly with end users regarding access requests and timelines
  • Partner with IT team members to resolve access-related issues

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree, preferably in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement
  • Minimum one year’s experience in IT support, help desk, or systems administration
  • Experience using IT ticketing or request management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Entry-level IT/Security Certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Security+)
  • Experience with directory services such as Active Directory or Azure AD / Entra ID

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of identity and access management concepts and practices
  • Knowledge of least-privilege access principles
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in processing and documentation
  • Ability to follow established processes and procedures
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively

  • Environment: Office
  • Range of Schedule: Mon – Fri, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Travel: None
