Position Overview
The Data Analyst is responsible for transforming data into actionable insights that support strategic planning, operational efficiency, and system optimization across the Credit Union. This role focuses on analyzing data from multiple sources, including the Symitar core processing system, to support business decision-making and regulatory needs. Working closely with the VP of IT and cross-functional teams, the Data Analyst develops reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions that enhance system performance, improve processes, and inform leadership. The position requires strong analytical and technical expertise, effective communication skills, and the ability to bridge business and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis, Reporting & Visualization
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from internal departments, leadership, and external partners.
- Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
- Document analytical findings and technical solutions in a clear and usable format.
- Ensure data integrity and perform regular data validation/cleansing.
Systems & Technical Support
- Evaluate existing systems and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and performance.
- Coordinate with internal staff and third-party vendors to implement technical solutions.
- Install, configure, integrate, and support system components to ensure operational reliability.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes to increase departmental efficiency.
- Provide operational and backup support for the Symitar core system.
Compliance, Projects & Operations
- Support IT-related regulatory and compliance initiatives.
- Maintain accurate documentation for procedures, workflows, and system configurations.
- Serve as a liaison between business users and technical teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood.
- Lead or support IT and data initiatives by coordinating timelines, resources, and deliverables.
- Provide scheduled after-hours and rotational support as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of evolving business and technology needs.
- Assist in defining and maintaining a data dictionary to ensure consistent terminology across the organization.
- Collaborate with Information Security to ensure all data reporting and visualization adheres to member privacy standards (GLBA).
User Support & Training
- Develop user guides and reference documentation.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and help desk support.
- Promote knowledge sharing and adoption of best practices.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years of Experience with Microsoft SQL databases and queries
- 2-3 years of Experience with Snowflake, Tableau
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of basic project management principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends.
- Occasional business travel using personal transportation.
- Must be bondable and pass a criminal background check and credit check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with the Symitar core system and related tools (PowerOn, SymForms, ARCU, SSRS).
- Experience with Arkatechture platform with Arkalytics solution.
