IT Desktop Technician II (Onsite: Houston, TX)

The IT Desktop Technician II under strict supervision, performs configuration, installation and/or repairs of PC hardware and peripherals according to established procedures.

  • Pay Rate: Up to $40.00/hour, depending on experience.
  • Assignment Length: 12-month with a high possibility of extension and/or conversion based on performance and other factors.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing frontline technical support to end users across the organization.
  • Ensures reliable operation of desktop, laptop, mobile, and peripheral devices while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, software, and connectivity issues in a timely manner, both remotely and onsite.
  • Contacts end user to define data migration requirements and perform the data migration, if required.
  • Monitors for trouble tickets and coordinates with appropriate vendors for equipment repair, if needed.
  • Adheres to and enforces facility security measures, company safety standards and software licensing procedures.
  • Assists in setting up PC's and related peripherals for special requests.
  • Lends guidance to desktop support teams on hardware related issues.
  • Performs own work and provides assistance to others as directed.
  • Job tasks, correctly performed, have minimal impact upon the viability of the organization.
  • Error is readily ascertainable by the supervisor and can be corrected.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a PC support or related technical role, with demonstrated expertise in hardware configuration.
  • CompTIA A+ certification is highly preferred; relevant equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and support Windows 10/11 environments.
  • Skilled in the installation, configuration, and physical repair of desktop and laptop hardware, as well as printer and peripheral support.
  • Proficiency in software deployment, configuration, and updates, including the Microsoft 365 suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Experience managing user accounts, performing password resets, and basic group policy administration.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and Wi-Fi configuration.
