IT Help Desk - Student Clerk

Position Summary

The IT Help Desk Student Clerk provides front-line technical support within a primarily Windows-based environment. This role assists our UICA staff by troubleshooting user and workstation issues, managing support tickets, and helping maintain technology resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer Help Desk calls and document issues using ticketing system
  • Provide general desktop support for Windows devices (Mac support experience is a plus)
  • Install, configure, and maintain workstations
  • Application support for Office365 applications and other related software
  • Assist with workstation deployments and new staff technology set up
  • Support equipment inventory management, system cabling, and basic computer hardware repair

Start Date: Position begins approximately two weeks after offer acceptance. Employment may continue until student graduation.

Hours

  • Minimum of 12 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday
  • Up to 40 hours per week available during academic breaks and summer

Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled University of Iowa student, full-time (minimum 12 credit hours)
  • Up to one year of related work experience preferred
  • Familiarity with computers and other IT hardware
  • Experience installing, upgrading, and removing software in Windows or Mac environments
