Information Technology Internship - Summer 2026

JOB OBJECTIVE

The objective of this position is to assist the Information Technology team in supporting and maintaining the organization’s technology infrastructure and application software. This internship provides hands-on experience with computer systems, networks, and user support while learning industry best practices.

2. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in an Information Systems, Computer Science, or related program.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

3. DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide first-level technical support for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of PCs, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Support IT staff in maintaining network connectivity and performing routine system checks.
  • Help with inventory management of IT equipment and documentation of configurations.
  • Participate in projects related to system upgrades, cybersecurity, and application deployment.
  • Respond to user requests in person, via phone, or through ticketing systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all MWEC security and safety policies.

  • Understanding of PC maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to follow instructions and document work clearly.
  • Time management and multitasking skills.
  • Professional attitude and customer service orientation.

5. BUSINESS AND RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Information Technology Coordinator.
Indirect Supervision: This position will work closely with IT staff and other departments to resolve technical issues.

6. POSITION SPECIFICATION / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position will be from May 2026 thru July 2026. Hours are negotiable up to 40 hours per week.
  • Requires frequent sitting and use of a computer keyboard.
  • Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Normal, non-smoking office environment.
  • Occasional travel within the service area.
