The IT Laptop Technician & Sales Associate is responsible for diagnosing and repairing laptop hardware and software issues while also assisting customers with product selection, technical support, and sales. This role requires strong technical troubleshooting abilities, solid software knowledge, and excellent customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities Technical Duties

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot laptop hardware and software issues (OS errors, performance issues, malware, driver conflicts).
  • Perform hardware repairs and replacements: RAM, SSD/HDD, keyboards, batteries, screens, motherboards, etc.
  • Install, configure, and update operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux depending on store requirements).
  • Install software applications and drivers, ensuring proper functionality.
  • Remove viruses, malware, ransomware, and perform system security enhancements.
  • Perform data backups, restores, OS reinstallation, and system migrations.
  • Optimize system performance and ensure devices meet quality standards.
  • Configure BIOS/UEFI settings and perform firmware updates.
  • Prepare refurbished laptops with clean OS installs and required software packages.
  • Maintain accurate repair logs, part usage, and service records.

Software & IT Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of Windows OS (Windows 7/8/10/11) installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of macOS installation and repair (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Mint, etc.) for installation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with device drivers, system updates, activation issues, and OS licensing.
  • Knowledge of common applications such as Microsoft Office, browsers, antivirus tools, and utility software.
  • Familiarity with disk partitioning, file systems, BIOS/UEFI settings, and imaging tools.
  • Ability to use software diagnostic utilities to test hardware components.
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts: Wi-Fi troubleshooting, IP configuration, connectivity issues.

Sales & Customer Service Duties

  • Assist customers in selecting laptops, accessories, and IT solutions based on their needs.
  • Explain technical problems and repair options in simple, clear language.
  • Recommend additional products and services (software, warranties, accessories).
  • Process repair tickets, invoices, and sales transactions.
  • Handle customer complaints, warranty claims, and returns.
  • Maintain store organization, update inventory, and ensure product displays are accurate.

Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills

  • Strong laptop hardware troubleshooting and repair ability.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing software issues and performing clean OS installations.
  • Knowledge of antivirus tools, system cleanup utilities, and backup solutions.
  • Understanding of networking basics and Wi-Fi troubleshooting.

Sales & Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to simplify technical information for non-technical customers.
  • Sales experience or willingness to learn sales techniques.
  • Friendly, professional, and customer-focused attitude.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
