IT Networking Instructor - Killeen Campus

About the Job

We’re hiring an IT & Cybersecurity Instructor to teach Computer Networking, Network Security, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing courses at CyberTex Institute of Technology. You will be working primarily with adult students who have little to no IT background, helping them build foundational IT skills, prepare for job placement, and successfully pass industry certification exams like CompTIA, Microsoft, and Cisco.

We need passionate technical trainers who are patient, detail-oriented, student-focused, and skilled at delivering both instructor-led training (ILT) and hands-on lab instruction.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom and lab-based IT and Cybersecurity training tailored to adult learners with minimal IT experience
• Develop and update IT & Cybersecurity course materials focused on foundational skills and job readiness
• Administer and grade CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, and Cybersecurity practice exams
• Provide individualized tutoring, coaching, and academic guidance to support student success
• Evaluate student progress and document performance
• Maintain and troubleshoot classroom IT/security lab equipment
• Connect lessons to real-world, career-focused applications
• Keep up to date with industry standards and technologies
• Complete 6 hours of CEU (Continuing Education Units) annually to maintain instructional standards
• Establish at least 3 new professional industry contacts each year for compliance and program improvement purposes

Required Skills

• IT Support & Troubleshooting: Proficient in hardware/software installation, OS configuration, mobile device setup, driver updates, and delivering excellent end-user support.
• Networking & Infrastructure: Knowledge of Cisco networking, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, routing protocols, VLANs, VPNs, and wireless network configuration.
• Cybersecurity: Skilled in identifying and mitigating threats, managing vulnerabilities, configuring firewalls, and using SIEM tools for security monitoring.
• Security Analysis & Penetration Testing: Experienced in threat hunting, malware analysis, penetration testing, social engineering, and security reporting.
• Linux Administration: Competent in command-line operations, Bash scripting, user management, package installation, and firewall configuration.
• Server Administration: Knowledgeable in RAID setup, virtualization, Active Directory, disaster recovery, and server performance optimization.
• Cloud & Virtualization: Familiar with cloud platforms, virtual environments, and secure deployment best practices.
• Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals: Understanding of AI concepts and their application in workplace and classroom productivity.
• Instructional & Leadership Skills: Skilled in adult learning methods, lesson planning, classroom management, and adapting content for diverse learners.

Required Certifications:

• CompTIA certifications: Security+, CySA+, Linux+

Preferred & Certifications

• CompTIA certifications: A+, Network+, PenTest+, Server+
• Microsoft certifications (MCP, MCSA, MCSE)
• Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP)
• Microsoft Server 2012–2016 expertise
