An IT Cabling Resident Engineer job involves on-site supervision and quality assurance of the installation and maintenance of network cabling infrastructure, acting as the technical expert and liaison between the client, contractors, and project management to ensure compliance with design, standards, and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• On-Site Supervision: Provide technical oversight and manage the day-to-day activities of cabling contractors on-site.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect and verify the quality of installations, ensuring they meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
• Technical Liaison: Act as the primary technical point of contact for the client and project team, resolving any site-specific construction or technical issues.
• Documentation: Prepare and manage site reports, progress updates, and non-conformance reports, and ensure accurate documentation of the cabling infrastructure.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity and cabling-related issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Compliance: Monitor and enforce adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and other relevant policies.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to installation and infrastructure deployment.

Skills and Qualifications

• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of network protocols, IP addressing, routing, switching, and various network hardware and software.
• Infrastructure Knowledge: Familiarity with different types of network cables, installation techniques, and proper termination procedures.
• Project Management Principles: Understanding of the project lifecycle, documentation, and the ability to manage budgets and estimates.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients, contractors, and management.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze technical issues, implement solutions, and provide recommendations to enhance network performance.
