IT PROJECT MANAGER

Power Consulting Group, a New York based IT Managed Service Provider, is looking for an experienced senior level project manager with prior MSP project management experience. The applicant should be able to ensure timely and high-quality project execution, identify and manage issues and risks, and foster collaboration in a fastpaced organization with a diverse set of clients.

The IT Project Manager will be responsible for the oversight of the successful execution of our client’s infrastructure and consulting projects through the effective direction and leadership of key project management resources. The IT Project Manager will work with the sales, management, and technical teams to ensure that work load is dispatched to the correct associates (taking into acount their skill levels), coordinate work load distributions and assignements are given to projects at the right time to meet business goals and successfully implement detailed project deliverables.

When effectively executed, the IT Project Manager ensures that all client IT projects meet requirements with quality deliverables on schedule, within budget and using the appropriate resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for directing and coordinating projects from initiation through implementation and to successful completion
  • Responsible for managing project costs, resources, change requests, and issues to ensure successful project delivery on time and on budget
  • Serves as point of contact and manages the customers needs and strives to bridge the information gap between client, vendors and internal resources
  • Develops high-level project plans and ensures that the scope and approach are fully understood by all stakeholders
  • Demonstrates tact and professionalism in handling difficult situations with clients by utilizing effective client facing skills while leveraging the art of effective negotiation
  • Works in a fast paced project delivery environment collaborating with clients, client relationship managers, products, technicians, and engineers
  • Effectively manages project team and implementation resources
  • Effectively manages multiple projects simultaneously
  • Organizes and facilitates daily stand-ups and retrospectives at the end of each project, and creates an environment in which the team is continuously learning from the past
  • Tracks and communicates team speed, financials, and other KPIs in relation to the project plan and reports to management
  • Coordinates communications, escalates and facilitates resolution of risks, issues, and changes tied to the project deliverables
  • Identify and clearly define ownership boundaries between internal teams, vendors, and client responsibilities within each SOW to eliminate ambiguity during execution.
  • Establish and enforce scope boundaries, including defining out-of-scope work and implementing change control processes to prevent project overruns.
  • Applies judgment and discretion on when to escalate concerns versus work through issues with the team
  • Align project scope with internal technical capabilities, and determine when to allocate additional time, training, or third-party resources to meet delivery requirements.
  • Guide clients and internal teams on prioritizing initiatives based on business impact, risk reduction, and security maturity rather than ad-hoc requests.
  • Ensure all SOWs meet defined standards for completeness, clarity, and alignment with internal templates and financial targets prior to client delivery.
  • Develop realistic project estimates by accounting for uncertainty, client variability, and internal skill gaps, including recommending phased or discovery-first engagements when appropriate.
  • Facilitates discussions and looks beyond the obvious for improvement opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of technical project delivery experience
  • 3+ years of experience in IT Managed services in a Project Management role
  • A working understand of IT infrastructure achitecture
  • Experience deploying projects in Office 365 and Azure
  • Strong leadership skills to manage multiple stakeholders. Prior people management skills is a strong plus
  • Strong background in different aspects of technology including hardware and software infrastructure, process integration and VM platform support

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • Managed Service Provider (MSP): 3+ year
  • IT Project Management: 5 years
  • Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure project implementation.
