Midsouth Steel, an industry leader in steel fabrication and erection has an immediate need for an IT Specialist. This is a chance to join a 30 year old company in a role that is vital to our future success.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and organized IT Specialist to join our team and support the day-to-day operations of our IT infrastructure. This individual will be responsible for managing user accounts, network devices, software installations, cybersecurity measures, and hardware across our office, shop, and field environments. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a broad range of IT systems and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Active Directory Administration
  • Create, update, and maintain computer names and descriptions.
  • Manage user accounts: add new users, update existing user information.
  • Perform other Active Directory-related tasks as needed.
2. Microsoft 365 Administration
  • Manage user accounts: creation, updates, password resets.
  • Monitor accounts for security threats; enforce session logouts if necessary.
  • Manage SharePoint sites and permissions.
  • Administer Exchange mailboxes, including delegated access for former employees.
  • Oversee Microsoft 365 Groups, Teams, and Power BI integration.
3. Email Security (Barracuda)
  • Monitor and manage email threat protection through Barracuda.
  • Approve legitimate emails for specific users.
  • Block malicious or suspicious emails and threats.
  • Perform other Barracuda-related configurations as required.
4. Hardware Procurement & Deployment
  • Purchase new IT equipment for users and network infrastructure.
  • Prepare user computers by installing/removing software and resetting devices.
  • Deploy and upgrade software on active network computers.
5. Device & Software Management
  • Maintain and support shop computers and tablets.
  • Maintain and support field computers and tablets.
  • Maintain and manage user cell phones (setup, configuration, and troubleshooting).
  • Manage installations and upgrades of network software programs.
6. Collaboration with Third-Party IT Services
  • Coordinate with outsourced Power BI developer for Power BI application needs.
  • Liaise with external network service provider for other network-related services.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Proven experience in IT support, network administration, or a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Familiarity with email security platforms like Barracuda.
  • Experience with device management (computers, tablets, mobile phones).
  • Understanding of software lifecycle: installation, updates, and removals.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of Power BI administration.
  • Experience in managing remote or field devices.
  • Basic understanding of network infrastructure and security.
  • Basic understanding of construction/manufacturing
Preferred Degree:
  • Data Science degree
  • Data Analytics degree
  • Information Systems Management degree

Working Conditions:
  • Standard office environment with occasional fieldwork.
  • May involve lifting or moving IT equipment.
  • Some after-hours or on-call work may be required for system maintenance or emergency support.
