Role Overview – IT Support Specialist | Technical Support & User Service Excellence

We are seeking a resourceful and solutions-driven IT Support Specialist to provide first-class technical support to colleagues across our multidisciplinary projects. This vital role is central to maintaining our organisation’s high levels of IT service, enabling team members to collaborate securely and efficiently, and supporting the digital backbone that underpins our engineering consultancy. Main Responsibilities – IT Support, Troubleshooting, and Customer Service

  • Serve as the first point of contact for IT support requests, resolving issues in person, over the phone, and via remote support tools.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems for desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices within a Windows and Office 365 environment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and security solutions to ensure optimal functionality and compliance.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to relevant IT teams or vendors, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Assist in the onboarding of new starters by preparing user accounts, devices, and training in best IT practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of support tickets, resolutions, assets, and user guides for ongoing IT knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance IT service delivery, user satisfaction, and cyber-security awareness.
  • Support procurement, setup, and the safe disposal of IT equipment in line with company and environmental standards.

What You Bring – Technical Expertise, Communication & End-User Support

  • Experience providing IT support in a customer- or user-facing role, ideally within a professional services or engineering environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Office 365, Active Directory, and core business applications.
  • Knowledge of networking principles, IT security basics, and effective troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with a wide range of users, from technical to non-technical backgrounds.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a strong sense of responsibility towards service excellence.
  • Commitment to supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce through effective IT solutions.
  • Relevant IT qualifications or certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft) are desirable but not essential if demonstrable experience is provided.
