IT Support Technician (Entry-Level)

Job Description

This position is for someone who wants to learn all aspects of IT in our organization.

Successful candidates will have foundational knowledge of computing technologies, confidence managing multiple tasks, strong customer service skills, and a willingness to learn.

Note: This position includes supporting and maintaining legacy systems that are business-critical to operations.

Examples of Duties

  • Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade computer hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues related to hardware, software, printers, and basic network connectivity.
  • Deploy new computers, including imaging/cloning and configuration.
  • Support network shares and basic IP configuration.
  • Document work performed, including installations, repairs, maintenance, replacements, and testing.
  • Maintain accurate records and system documentation.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Perform related work as required.

Typical Qualifications

Education

  • Demonstrated pursuit of learning and growth in Information Technology (coursework, certifications, labs/homelab, personal projects, or similar).
  • If selected for an interview, candidates must participate in a hands-on demonstration of computer skills, which may include:
  • Troubleshooting PC hardware/software
  • Printer configuration
  • Network shares
  • IP configuration
  • PC imaging/cloning

Experience

  • No formal professional experience required.

Qualifications

Knowledge of

  • Principles and practices of computer support services.
  • PC hardware, common operating systems, and general troubleshooting practices.
  • Microsoft Office and other productivity applications.
  • Basic security practices, backups, and safe handling of sensitive information.
  • Diagnostic utilities and basic hardware testing tools.

Ability to

  • Learn new software/hardware quickly and follow documented procedures.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with non-technical users.
  • Manage multiple tasks while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Maintain documentation and accurate records of work performed.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance when needed.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Work flexible hours as needed to complete system tasks or maintenance windows.
  • Lift and move equipment (see Physical Demands below).
  • Stay current with technology and best practices.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports directly to the IT Manager.

Supplemental Information

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Strength: Light work—lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds occasionally, with frequent lifting/carrying of objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Mobility: Must be able to stand for extended periods and maneuver under desks or in tight spaces.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Internship

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
