Job Overview
This position acts as a first level helpdesk support for software, hardware, and related peripherals. Assists with Utility Billing requests, invoicing, and light administrative duties. Supports process workflows for Billing, Meter Services, and GIS divisions.
NOTE: Employee may be required to respond to a disaster, either natural or man-made, to serve the citizens of Statesville and meet the needs of the organization, which may result in the assignment of other duties and take precedence over duties described in this job description. Responsible for with timely hardware and software installations and upgrades as required, including, but not limited to workstations/computers, telephones, printers, copiers, and related equipment.

Performs password and multifactor authentication resets and assists users with login issues.

Provides technical guidance and support to users including, but not limited to, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues and routing to proper IT personnel for resolution.

Troubleshoots and resolves issues in-person, or by phone, email, chat, and remote access.

Acts as a backup for utility billing workflows and other critical business processes.

Accurately documents requests for technical assistance, steps taken to resolve them, and the specific dates/individuals involved.

Assists with Helpdesk tasks as assigned.

Assists with department invoice workflow and performs other light administrative tasks.

Assists with maintaining end point updates and patches.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
-
Associate degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.

Two (2) years of experience in computer or systems operations.
Requirements

Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license, or any valid driver’s license with ability to obtain a North Carolina driver’s license within 60 days of establishing a permanent residence in North Carolina.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Knowledge of operational principles and characteristics of telecommunications, personal computers, and related peripheral equipment.

Knowledge of operational principles and procedures of standard word processing, database, spreadsheet, email, and related business applications software.

Ability to understand and use a variety of telecommunications equipment and personal computer hardware and software.

Ability to utilize Active Directory and Microsoft Office 365.

Ability to identify, define, and resolve technical problems.

Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively prioritize tasks.

Job Related Physical Requirements
This position involves light work requiring the exertion of 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical activity related to this position may require the use of fingers and hands, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required to express thoughts and exchange information; hearing is required to respond to spoken words and to receive and understand information; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
Working Conditions
The employee is not subject to adverse environmental conditions but may be required to work nights, weekends, and respond to emergency calls.
