ITI – Electrical & Laboratory Maintenance Technician

Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical & Utilities

  • Carry out installation, inspection and maintenance of:
  • Laboratory power points, panels, DBs, UPS supply and earthing.
  • Single-phase and three-phase electrical connections for lab equipment.
  • Attend electrical breakdowns in laboratories and utility areas.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of electrical systems as per schedule.

Laboratory Equipment Support

  • Perform routine checking and basic maintenance of:
  • Air conditioners (split / ductable / package units).
  • Hot plates and heating equipment.
  • Fume hoods (blower operation, airflow check, electrical controls).
  • Vacuum pumps and connected utilities.
  • Identify abnormal noise, vibration, temperature or electrical issues and report immediately.
  • Support vendor engineers during calibration, servicing and validation activities

AC & Ventilation Systems

  • Carry out basic maintenance of AC units such as:
  • Filter cleaning / replacement.
  • Electrical checks of compressors, blowers and control circuits.
  • Support maintenance of exhaust systems and fume hood blowers.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow laboratory safety rules, EHS guidelines and electrical safety procedures.
  • Ensure lock-out / tag-out before electrical or equipment maintenance.
  • Work safely inside laboratories with chemicals and sensitive instruments.
  • Maintain housekeeping and proper cable management in lab areas.

Documentation & Coordination

  • Maintain:
  • Breakdown records.
  • Preventive maintenance logs.
  • Equipment history sheets.
  • Coordinate with:
  • Lab users.
  • External service providers.
  • Facilities and EHS teams.

Qualification

  • ITI – Electrician

(ITI – Fitter / Instrument / Mechanic with strong electrical exposure can also be considered)

Key Skills Required

  • Industrial and laboratory electrical wiring.
  • Basic knowledge of:
  • AC systems and ventilation equipment.
  • Motors, starters, contactors and relays.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical faults in laboratory equipment.
  • Basic understanding of fume hood operation and exhaust systems.
  • Safe handling of tools in laboratory environment.

Preferred Experience

  • 1–3 years experience in:
  • Research laboratory
  • R&D centre
  • Pharma / chemical / testing laboratory
  • Or controlled industrial environment

(Fresh ITI candidates may be considered if trained in lab or utility maintenance.)

Work Conditions

  • Working inside active laboratories.
  • Shift and emergency breakdown support when required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹8,612.85 - ₹31,651.78 per month
